I am a recent graduate from the Undergraduate Exercise Science Program from Sacred Heart University, where I earned a Bachelor of Science in Exercise Science with a minor in Psychology. I am currently a graduate student pursuing my Master’s in Clinical Exercise Physiology at Southern Connecticut State University where I plan on obtaining my ACSM EP certification following my completion of the spring semester of 2024 and graduating in that same semester block. I currently sit as a student advisor on the Southern Connecticut Graduate Clinical Exercise Science Advisory Board where I assist the teaching staff in making decisions that would further evaluate the growth of Southern Connecticut State University’s Health and Movement Science program.
During my time as a graduate student, I completed my internship at Yale New Haven Cardiac Rehab (Branford) last spring-summer of 2023 where I gained valuable experience in working with cardiac rehab patients and assisting with exercise specialists / physiologists in administering patient care and exercise prescription.
In addition to my formal education and internship experience, I also worked at Yale New Haven Hospital Lung Life Pulmonary Rehabilitation Program as an Exercise Physiologist as a per diem where I assisted nurses, exercise physiologists and respiratory therapists in patient needs such as taking vital signs (BP, HR, O2 Sat, Blood Glucose) along with formulating an appropriate exercise treatment plan for patients based on their needs and diagnosis. I also taught patients resistance training exercise with dumbbells, TheraBand along with teaching patients on stress management through the education portion of class. Besides my experience I’m also an active master belt instructor and national / international competitor at West Haven Academy of Karate where I teach children and adults martial arts.
I was an assistant instructor from 2014-2018 and received my teaching certification in 2019 to where I am currently one of the main instructors at the studio. I believe that my experience in not only in the martial arts but also at Yale New Haven Cardiac Rehabilitation Branford and Yale Pulmonary Rehabilitation will make a strong candidate since I am no stranger in working with people and with patients and I have experience in both the cardiac and pulmonary field. I am confident that my education, experience, and extracurricular activates haven prepared to be a strong candidate in this position.
I am always eager to learn, and I always look forward to working with my fellow peers / staff and seeing the best of patients.
