I grew up attending alternative schools which highlighted self directed learning: homeschooling, sudbury education, a college that didn't offer grades. This allowed me to maintain my sense of self and imbue it into my academic interests (writing, reading, theater, etc.) A foundation I still draw from today. While I was pursuing these interests in college, I started working at The Early Learning Center on campus.
This introduced me to the Reggio Emilia technique, a natural fit. My time working in the infant room was enlightening, as I was introduced to the limitless nature of what childcare can be. I enjoyed cultivating that classroom through various materials, sounds, and questions for the students.
A safe space where they were supported and encouraged to take risks.
I believe community is everything. A space to come together in support of one another, to encourage and witness and stand in solidarity. That is my intention in all of my childcare. To be an intentional witness and stand in solidarity with the child's process.
