Greg Bender

My name is Greg Bender, I am a pitching coach, and my main goal is always to help my players become the best version of themselves, both on the field and off it. I bring a strong work ethic, positive attitude and excellent communication skills to any role, as well as a blend of both old school and new school baseball thinking that gives me a unique perspective of the game.

Pitching Coach/Director of Analytics at Galya Athletics (2025-11 – Present)

• Floor Coach for middle and high school throwing program/bullpens, weight room, hitting and defense (can throw BP).
• College Program Pitching Director
• Operate the Trackman for both hitters and pitchers

Coach at NJ Marlins Baseball (2025-05 – 2025-11)

• Coach of the 14u team for the summer, 16u for the fall.
• Floor coach for summer training membership program.

Performance Analyst at San Diego Padres (2022-03 – 2024-10)

• Responsible for operation and data processing from Hawkeye.
• Operated many baseball technology tools (Trackman, Blast, K-Vest, etc.)
• Conducted various player/team evaluations and projects using data analysis, SQL and visualizations in RStudio.
• Coached biomechanics, pitch design/location and hitting approach.

Data Analytics Intern/Performance Coach at Total Arm Care Elite Throwing Development (2021-03 – 2023-03)

• Started as an intern where I was conducting various research projects based on pitch tracking data from Trackman
• Later became a performance coach where I was responsible for coaching, operating technology and supervision of throwing programs.

Analytics Coordinator at Stevens Institute of Technology Baseball (2019-10 – 2022-02)

• Developed a defensive shifting system to increase defensive efficiency.
• Tracked pitches to develop hot and cold zones for both pitchers and hitters.
• Wrote scouting reports for coaches and players on the opposing teams.
• Tracked pitch data in practice for pitch design.
