My name is Hisham Kanaan and I am an eighteen-year-old Vermonter who grew up in Malawi, Africa. Last year I graduated from high school in Malawi with the International Baccalaureate Diploma and Honors with Commendation. I am now taking a gap year to pursue my interests in music and the environment, reacquaint myself with life in the US, and gain work experience before heading to university in the fall (having already been accepted to a number of institutions).
I am a well-rounded individual, a team player and a hard worker. If you would like my resume for a more comprehensive background, please let me know, and do not hesitate to get in touch if you have any positions available that you feel I would fit!
While I have never worked in a professional, paid capacity, I served in a number of leadership roles during my high school years. This can be evidenced through my commitments as the captain of my rugby and swim teams, an elementary rugby coach, a leading actor in school musicals, a self-managed musician who played paid gigs around Lilongwe, the leader of my own conservation-oriented service group, a member of student council and my high school's Student Service Director.
Despite my lack of prior experience in paid positions, I feel that I have a breadth of knowledge and wealth of experiences that will lend themselves to me in a work environment.
I recently graduated from Bishop Mackenzie International School with the International Baccalaureate (IB) Diploma and Honors with Distinction. During the two-year IB Diploma Programme, I studied Biology, Chemistry and English Literature as Higher Level courses, and Maths Analysis and Approaches, Environmental Systems and Societies and Spanish as Standard Level courses.
