I am a longtime educator, having served in various styles of schools--public, private, charter, online and even homeschool. I believe each type of environment has its benefits as well as its difficulties. I hold a B.
A. in English and a M. Ed in Curriculum and Instruction. The first job I held utilizing my graduate degree was that of a program director for a private facility. In my 3.5 years on the campus, I witnessed the school experience astronomical growth--from 55 students to 120.
We added classes, grades, and programs constantly to maintain and encourage the growth. As a classroom teacher, I have taught English/Language Arts in grades from 6th-12th. I have also taught Spanish I and II and Business English Communications.
I have enjoyed each and every one of those subject matters. For me, the name of the game is flexibility. I am not afraid to learn new subjects or new approaches to curriculum. I am also a freelance writer.
I have published pieces on a myriad of subjects--mostly non-fiction from children's literature up to adult pieces. My most recent pieces include an essay named “The Garden” which placed out of 300 entries in an essay contest for Women on Writing and another piece named “The Evolution of Education in America” published online with Educator's Room.
