I have experience as a Harvard Medical School academic physician leader, educator, researcher, and activist. I have a personal story that explains this new phase in my career. Four years ago, I survived a complex medical condition.
I was found to have a ruptured brain aneurysm. I underwent emergent neurosurgical repair but was not expected to survive. I had a prolonged hospitalization and recovery that included intensive care, neurological inpatient care, and six months of rehabilitation therapy.
I was fit and healthy before this event, and this, combined with excellent medical care and a bit of luck, resulted in an against-the-odds full recovery. I have excellent written and verbal communication skills. I am a bottom-up leader who promotes the flattening of hierarchy and enhances organizational culture.
I bring a softer style and a broader view of what defines excellence. I have empathy and the ability to support others experiencing hardships. I can bring my experience in developing and leading positive organizational cultures.
