The front restaurant was the most popular high end pizza spot in the city and I ran the door/security for the "secret back bar". You entered through the alley and the door was not marked. There were 25 seats and we allowed no standing room.
Almost every night I had a line down the alley. I had to keep a list, maintain order and keep people in good spirits (the wait could be over an hour or two on weekends) while watching and analyzing the groups inside to best situate the newcomers as room opened up. I bussed the tables, as well.
It was intense and I was great at it. It wasn't for everyone. You had to be the perfect mix of fun and stern. Needless to say COVID ended this job.
