James Lynch trained at the conservatory acting program at SUNY Purchase in New York.
Stage credits include Tom in THE GLASS MENAGERIE at The Intiman Theatre in Seattle and Oswald in GHOSTS at The NJ Shakespeare Festival. Additional stage credits include roles in LOVE’S LABOR’S LOST, THE THREE SISTERS, A CRY OF PLAYERS, LOVERS, COWBOYS 2 and THE RIMERS OF ELDRITCH. He has also appeared in new plays developed at Ensemble Studio Theatre, Manhattan Theatre Club, Seattle Repertory, and The Irish Arts Center.
Television and Film credits include THE X-FILES, LAW & ORDER, GUIDING LIGHT, TALK TO ME LIKE THE RAIN, EXTRICATE and NOBODY EVER DIES.
20 years of experience as a Voice Instructor, he began his voice training with Chuck Jones, author of MAKE YOUR VOICE HEARD: An Actors Guide to Increased Dramatic Range Through Vocal Training. In addition, he studied with instructors Deborah Hecht, Rick Ericson, and Elizabeth Himmelstein. He has taught Voice and Acting in New York, Los Angeles, and Seattle at Lee Strasberg Theatre Institute, Stonestreet Studios, Freehold Theatre, and Cornish College of the Arts, where he developed and taught advanced acting courses including THE 30 DAY SHAKESPEARE INTENSIVE, EXPLORING IBSEN & CHEKHOV and THE PLAYS OF TENNESSE WILLIAMS.
His voice-over work includes commercials, documentary narration, movie opens, bumpers & billboards, radio spots and audio books. He adapted & directed AGAINST FORGETTING, an original play with music inspired by the anthology of poetry written by political prisoners in exile, compiled by Carolyn Forchè. As a benefit for UNESCO, he produced the multi-camera live shoot, A LETTER FROM NEW YORK TO SARAJEVO, a one-hour special directed by Carlo Nero with host Vanessa Redgrave.
Other film projects include DOOLYMOOG, written & performed by John Paulsen at HERE Theatre, EGGS & TOAST, an original dance piece choreographed by Jessica Jobaris & John Paulsen, as well as concerts with musicians Enrico Granafei and Samuel Torres at the NY Historical Society. He is a member of True Ensemble Theatre Company and the directing unit at The Shooting Gallery in addition to The Daedalus Acting Lab, where he studied with Henry Madden, author of THE STRASBERG TAPES REVISITED: An Examination of Traditional Acting Technique.
