Hello! My name is James Mikesell, I'm a motivated Boston native pursuing a Bachelor's degree in Biology with a minor in Business Administration at the University of Denver. Throughout my time attending university, I have developed a strong foundation in physiological systems, cell structure and function, genetics, evolution, and biodiversity. Additionally, I possess technical skills in programming languages such as Python and JavaScript, along with basic proficiency in Spanish and Swedish.
In terms of professional experience, I have served as a Patient Care Assistant at Ellis Nursing Home, where I provided patient care, ensured hygiene, and monitored food and medicine intake. In addition to my academic and professional pursuits, I have a deep appreciation for the great outdoors and an active lifestyle. I find joy in immersing myself in nature through activities such as hiking, mountain biking, skiing, and running!
I have gained valuable professional experience in diverse roles that have shaped my interpersonal and organizational skills. As a Patient Care Assistant at Ellis Nursing Home, I provided essential care to patients by assisting with mobility, ensuring hygiene, and monitoring food and medicine intake. This experience honed my empathy, attention to detail, and ability to work in a fast-paced environment.
Furthermore, I worked as a Catering Captain/Driver/Server at HUNGRY, where I demonstrated strong logistical skills by acquiring and safely transporting food items while maintaining their temperature integrity. Additionally, my role involved setting up dining areas and delivering excellent customer service. Currently, I am also employed as a Delivery Driver at DoorDash, where I have refined my time management skills and customer-centric approach.
Currently, I'm pursuing a Bachelor's degree in Biology with a minor in Business Administration at the University of Denver, I am expected to graduate in June 2025. Throughout my academic journey, I have developed a solid foundation in biological sciences, with coursework encompassing areas such as physiological systems, cell structure and function, genetics, evolution, heredity, and biodiversity. I have also gained a comprehensive understanding of chemistry through courses in general and organic chemistry.
