Hello, my name is Jared Perkins. I graduated in December of 2018 with a Bachelors in Elementary Education, earning the title of Outstanding Student Graduating Class of 2018. I subsequently received a trophy in recognition of this achievement. While pursuing my degree, I dedicated my time to teaching STEM at the Boys and Girls Club, focusing on upper middle school students.
Post-graduation, I served as a pool teacher at Lely Elementary, where I completed my internship. This role provided valuable hands-on experience working with students with autism and other special needs. Over the next two school years, I continued at the same school, teaching 4 rotations of science and health each day to 5th Grade students.
In June 2021, I obtained a master’s degree in Curriculum and Instruction with a concentration in Secondary Science Education. Shortly thereafter, I accepted a position at East Naples Middle School, teaching 8th-grade science for two school years. Concurrently, I lead two afterschool clubs – a culinary arts and food safety club, where students explored diverse cuisines and learned about food safety protocols, and a science music video club, where students created educational content for my YouTube channel.
I worked part-time as a science teacher at Redmond Middle School for about seven months before accepting a full-time position closer to home in Bend as an educator/tech at an addiction rehabilitation facility, where I remained until August 2024. Most recently, I served as an Applied Science Teacher for Oregon Family School, where I taught hands-on science labs across three campuses and led virtual courses in audio/video editing and ukulele for 6th–8th grade students. Due to budget constraints, my contract was not renewed.
I am actively seeking new opportunities in science education where I can continue to share my passion for STEM and deliver engaging, collaborative, and innovative instruction.
I have a comprehensive background in science, having completed various courses during college, including biology, environmental education, estuary ecology, microbiology, anatomy, psychology, developmental psychology, educational psychology, geology, and oceanography. My certifications include 6-12 Biology, 6-12 Earth Science, and Middle Grades General Science 5-9.
Been teaching professionally since 2018 have experience with teaching since 2015.
