Joseph Houchins

I was born and raised in Austin, TX and graduated from Trinity University in San Antonio, TX, where I majored in psychology and played varsity soccer.

Following graduation, I returned to Austin and held teaching and administrative positions at a charter high school for at risk youth. I then attended Boston University for graduate school and remained in the Boston area to obtain additional experience as a mental health researcher. It was during this time that I discovered a passion for psychopharmacology (in addition to psychotherapy) and pursued a career as a psychiatric nurse practitioner.

I moved to New York in 2018 and graduated from Columbia University's DNP program in 2021. Since then, I have worked at Principium Psychiatry, a premier outpatient psychiatric clinic in New York City that offers psychopharmacology, psychotherapy, TMS, Ketamine, ECT, and an intensive outpatient program (IOP).

I live with my wife and our two pets in the upper west side neighborhood of Manhattan and look forward to returning home in late April with our soon to be child!
