I never knew how much teaching meant to me until I found myself in a leadership role that required mentorship and the constant instruction of others. Being able to teach people life skills and watching them better themselves because of it was a reward that I knew I wanted to pursue further. Biology has always been my main passion since I was a child, and if I am able to spark that curiosity or thirst for knowledge in others it will be a great honor of mine.
I hope to instill some of that passion for exploration and adventure within my students.
Team Member - Crazy Ant Strike Team - Honolulu
Myself and four others were left on a deserted island about 900 miles west of Hawaii for 7 months. Here we were battling an invasive ant species that was disturbing local nesting birds. This was a truly incredible experience that only strengthened my love for biology.
I was lucky enough to have two host teachers which gave me twice as much teaching time and experience. Even with the challenges of teaching blended classes of in person students and remote learners, my time spent with the students was unforgettable.
