You may already know that oral health is incredibly important because it directly affects our overall well-being and quality of life. Poor oral health can lead to various health issues, including gum disease and even systemic diseases like diabetes and Alzheimer's. That's why accurate prediction of oral diseases is crucial for our overall health and happiness.
In my previous work, I focused on a challenging issue - predicting oral diseases accurately. Even with advanced technologies like X-rays, it's still difficult to predict with high accuracy whether someone will develop oral health problems in the future. Traditional methods rely heavily on the doctor's experience, and the results are not very reliable.
To tackle this problem, I developed a special machine learning model using datasets from over 700 bacterial sequencing result for each healthy people and patients. The optimized model increased the accuracy by over 80% and enhanced the treatment effiency and finally saved about $100,000 per year for the unneccasary treatment.
