I am thrilled to apply for the High School History Teacher position. Currently a senior at Wingate University, I will graduate in May 2025 with a Bachelor of Science in Secondary Education and History, becoming certified to teach grades 9–12 in North Carolina. As a Marvin Ridge High School graduate from Union County, I am excited to return to the area, planning to reside in Gaston County after graduation. My student teaching at Parkwood High School under Ms.
Kenner has provided invaluable experience, teaching Government and Politics as well as Economics and Personal Finance (EPF).
History is my true passion, branching out into these subjects has been rewarding, giving me fresh perspectives and helping students thrive through dynamic, real-world projects like career portfolio planning and mock interviews.
Throughout my student teaching, I emphasized interactive learning experiences to inspire engagement and deeper understanding. In EPF, students created personalized career portfolios, building resumes, researching postsecondary options, and participating in mock interviews with local professionals. In Government and Politics, the creative "Cake Day" project helped students connect constitutional amendments to concepts like Federalism and Anti-Federalism in an exciting and memorable way.
These activities fueled my belief that hands-on learning empowers students to succeed academically and personally. My journey at Parkwood, combined with internships and coursework, has strengthened my commitment to teaching history, especially to upperclassmen. I am fully prepared to teach American History and EPF, and I am eager to broaden my expertise in World History with additional preparation if needed.
I have attached my resume and would love the opportunity to further discuss how I can contribute to your school community.
I have been actively involved in the classroom since 2022, beginning with observation hours and progressing to teaching responsibilities. In the 2024–2025 school year, I transitioned into full-time student teaching, where I have had the opportunity to design and deliver lessons, build meaningful connections with students, and foster a supportive and engaging learning environment. Throughout this journey, I have discovered a true love for allowing students to take ownership of their learning, helping them grow both academically and personally.
I will be graduating from Wingate University in May 2025 with a Bachelor’s degree in History Education and will be certified to teach Secondary Social Studies.
