As an avid reader with a passion for creative writing, I believe in the power that language and words have to communicate problems and create space for empathy and understanding. With my educational background in education and interpreting, I have a unique and creative perspective that I can bring to any team. I will advocate and fight for my students' success.
As a current teacher of English reading and spelling in a multi-campus international school in Honduras, I am experienced and confident in creating English lesson plans and finding creative ways to communicate concepts in English. During my time in my current position, I have taken the lead on multiple projects with co-teachers, including lesson planning, material creation, and assisting with following and meeting Cambridge and Cognia standards, completed one-on-one tutoring, moving students from no English to Dr. Suess-level reading skills in just three months, and communicated effectively with the administration, discipline office, and counseling department regarding the needs of students.
In the past, I have worked as a freelance pop culture writer, and have worked in a number of professional medical offices.
I have a technical education in office assistance, which emphasized and focused on clear communication, organization, and English writing. Following this, I pursued an education in American Sign Language Interpretation with a focus on interpreting for young people in educational settings. This education allowed me to have a strong grasp of practical linguistics, as well a focus on communicating concepts and facilitating language growth using a variety of methods and language modalities.
Finally, I completed a CELTA program through International House Mexico with a Pass B.
