Paraprofessional at Fairfield Public Schools (2019-10 – Present)
I am working at the Early Childhood Center as a fulltime classroom Paraprofessional in the Fairfield Public School system. I work with preschoolers with IEP's, behavioral challenges, as well as peer role models. I help the teacher prep and assist doing activities such as counting, crafts, patterns, and facilitating a friendly and socially appropriate play time.
During my time as a paraprofessional at the ECC, I have worked with all students in the classroom as well as one on one with students with behavioral challenges.
Summer School Paraprofessional at Fairfield Public Schools (2019-07 – Present)
In the summer I worked as a classroom paraprofessional at The Early Childhood Center. While working in the classroom, I specifically worked with a child who has a genetic disease which limits her physical abilities. I helped her with her adaptive equipment with encouragement, as well as ensuring a safe and fun environment for not only that child, but all of the students in the classroom. I also helped make sure the classroom was safe and prepared materials for the children alongside the teacher.
Special Playgrounds Camp Counselor at Fairfield Adaptive Recreation (2017-06 – Present)
For over three years at the Fairfield Adaptive Rec Special playgrounds camp, I have had many different responsibilities. All three years at the camp I have had the privilege to be a one on one counselor. During this job I have had to help those with disabilities have a fun and safe time during camp.
I have had to help children who are physically, and cognitively disabled, as well as individuals with health issues such as seizure disorders. I have had to help with feeding, toileting, and even managing behavior throughout the camp days.
Personal Care Assistant at Allied Community Resources (2017-06 – Present)
I am a Personal Care Assistant (PCA) for a now 13 year old girl with both physical and cognitive disabilities, who is also medically complex. I help this child with everyday activities such as, walking, toileting, bathing, feeding, playing and bedtime. I have also have experience with giving her medication through her port and putting on her leg braces. I also address her behavioral issues when they present themselves and I also have experience in helping her with her assistive technology.
Substitute Paraprofessional at Fairfield Public Schools (2019-04 – 2020-10)
I have been working as a Paraprofessional Substitute primarily at The Early Childhood Center, through Fairfield Public Schools. I worked with preschoolers who have IEPs as well as their typical peers who do not. I had to help make sure that all of the children were safe, as well as helping the teachers prepare lessons/activities, and making sure the classroom was prepared according to the schedule.
Personal Care Assistant at Tempus Unlimited (2018-08 – 2018-12)
For this job I worked for an 18-year-old girl with Spinal Muscular Atrophy. During this time, I would help the girl with her personal needs. My responsibilities included helping her get to and from classes, preparing meals, helping with personal hygiene such as the bathroom and doing wheelchair transfers.
