I graduate from Presbyterian College in 2021 with my Bachelors of Science in Biochemistry. Upon graduating, I went on to complete my Masters in Science in Epidemiology at the University of South Carolina. Upon graduating with my degree in 2023, I was hired full time by the University as a Research Specialist where I work in the Laboratory of Infectious and Zoonotic Diseases.
I have a love of learning in and outside of the classroom. I am a highly organized individual and I pride myself in my attention to detail. When I am not at work I enjoy reading, hiking, and spending time with my cat. I also recently got into needlepoint!
I recently relocated to Clemson, SC and am interested exploring new career opportunities and looking for exciting challenges where I can apply my skills and experiences. I'm excited to connect with professionals and companies in the area and discover opportunities for growth and collaboration!
Although I held a wide variety of jobs throughout my undergraduate and graduate degree, my current position is my first full time professional job. In this role, I am responsible for the intake, identification, and processing of biohazardous arthropod samples. I conduct a range of laboratory tests on these samples, including DNA extraction and pathogen testing.
I then provide a comprehensive analysis of the results. With a strong focus on attention to detail and data accuracy, I ensure that all findings are meticulously documented. Additionally, I am responsible for updating, organizing, and maintaining multiple Excel spreadsheets and Word documents.
I am also capable of safely handling and disposing of chemicals in compliance with safety protocols. I oversee various vector-borne disease research projects and assist with other laboratory tasks as needed. Regular and open communication with laboratory personnel is a key part of my role.
I initially started in this position with limited responsibilities as a graduate student, but after completing my Master's program, I transitioned into a full-time role. I am very open minded and willing to learn. I am a fast learner, with a passion for knowledge.
I graduated Summa Cum Laude (GPA 3.92) from Presbyterian College in 2021 with my Bachelor's of Science in Biochemistry. Immediately following my undergraduate degree, I earned my Masters of Science in Epidemiology from the University of South Carolina in 2023, where I graduated with the highest honors (GPA 4.0).
