Started career serving apprenticeship as a welder and general engineer, studying welding whilst learning to operate lathes and milling machines. Gained qualifications inhouse through Proco NW Ltd (City and Guilds Level 3 NVQ extended diploma in mechanical manufacturing engineering and CNC machining).
College one day a week to study and complete EAL Level 3 diploma in engineering technology. Used multiple welding techniques on materials including mild steel, invar 36, aluminium and stainless steel, making various components and lay-up tables for the aerospace industry. Spent considerable time working on lathes and milling machines making components to tight tolerances. Became a skilled toolmaker using hand tools within tight deadlines and quality requirements of the aerospace industry.
Fabricator - Karomed Ltd
(2016-11 - 2017-10)
Learned more about stainless steel and sheet metal work, using guillotines, rollers, folders and pillar drills. Produced products for the medical industry such as hospital trolleys, chairs, tables, drip stands and various other fabrications.
Team Leader - B&H Precision Tooling
(2017-10 - 2020-11)
Returned to B&H as team leader. Had good understanding of production times and what is achievable from shop floor experience. Strong relationships with co-workers allowed achievement of deadlines and high standard projects using each individual to their strengths.
Time spent further honing fabrication skills and learning how to lead people, manage workflow and liaise with other staff members and external companies such as NDT testers, suppliers and transport companies. Furthered fabrication skills and moved on to more complex fabrication work.
Welder/Fabricator - Kelsa truck products
(2020-11)
Joined to improve knowledge in stainless steel and aluminium welding pipe/tube. Creates custom light bars for waggons and vans and custom exhaust work, purging the pipe and ensuring seams on the inside of the pipe are even and free of slag/sugar using TIG welding.
