- Monitor patients for changes in condition in procedures and post-anesthesia recovery, reporting concerns to physician.
- Ensure patient safety and compliance by obtaining pre-operative patient assessments, pertinent history, and consents.
- Ensure proper infection control and functionality of safety equipment, voicing concerns to team for patient safety.
- Educate patients/partners on discharge instructions, emergency symptoms, and provide emotional support.
- Manage nursing care within a 30-bed cardiothoracic progressive care unit focusing on pre and post-operative patients.
