Ken Furuichi

I’m a recent Master's graduate in Stem Cell Biology and a pre-medical student currently studying for the MCAT. My previous clinical background includes volunteering as an EMT for a mobile clinic, where I learned how to navigate fast-paced environments and connect with vulnerable patients. I am actively seeking a clinical position to stay engaged in patient care and continue building my clinical experience.

Graduate Research Assistant at USC, Quadrato Research Lab (2025-07 – Present)

• Assisted a Ph.D. student's project in modeling spinocerebellar ataxia type 3 using human cerebellar organoids and in vivo mouse transplantation
• Performed immunohistochemical characterization and quantitative analyses on cerebellar organoids to generate preliminary data for the Ph.D student's project
• Performed mouse perfusions and assisted with the maintenance of stem cells and SCA3 organoid cultures

Undergraduate Research Assistant at UC Riverside, Ethell Research Lab (2023-03 – 2025-06)

• Investigated the role of astrocytes in synapse formation and plasticity in brain areas critical for learning, memory, and development, specifically in Fragile X Syndrome
• Developed expertise in laboratory techniques, including perfusions, brain dissections, and qRT-PCR
• Managed a detailed mouse colony spreadsheet, oversaw breeding, weaning, and overall colony maintenance
• Supported graduate students by maintaining stem cell cultures and performing data analysis on FIJI

• Represented CNAS at on-campus and off-campus recruiting events to engage prospective students and community members
