I currently gather carts at Walmart in Collinsville Illinois which is where I gained my customer service skill. I have been gathering carts for 10 plus years. I have acquired some skills at SWIC which stands for Southwestern Illinois College such as origination skills, typing, time management, organization, Microsoft Word, Excel, and Power Point.
The way I stay organized is to keep my files in folders and to keep everything in alphabetical order. I thrive on excellence. My focus is on achieving long-term goals. The way I achieve long-term goals is to set many short-term goals.
I am a firm believer in working hard and working together!
I started working at Southwestern Illinois College in February 2019February 2019 as a Student Intern. My first assignment as an intern is making labels and putting them on brochures and handbooks. Right when I got started, I said to myself, I can get into this.
After I labeled everything, I sorted them in alphabetical order. I ran errands for my supervisor. I did a data entry. I made table tents for job fairs. I organized clothes for the fashion show. I sorted clothes from smallest to largest.
I kept the men’s clothes separate from the women’s clothes. Every year, SWIC has a fashion show to show students what's appropriate for an office setting. I’m hoping I can submit a link to my E-portfolio to show my work samples.
Starting January 2016, I took Business 101 and OAT 121. OAT stands for Office Administration and Technology. One thing, I and other students did a lot of is research. The only sources we didn’t use were wikis. One common wiki is Wikipedia. Wikipedia is not a reliable source and here’s why. Anyone can go into a wiki and change the information.
Starting August 2016, I took a keyboarding class. I only used the shift key when I had to because the shift key slows down my typing speed. I would take two typing tests of the same document. I took the first test using the shift key and then the second test without the shift key. When I use the shift key, I can type up to 50 or 55 words per minute.
