How's it going? My name is Kevin Royal, and I am looking forward to being your next young adult pastor. I have a heart for college-age young adults, being that that was a time of life where I needed Jesus the most.
And unfortunately, this was pre-COVID, and I didn't have anyone to speak that life into me. And so my passion and compassion and desire to communicate to people at an age where you're told, "you're not smart enough or experienced enough or even trusted enough to make life-changing decisions", and yet you are making life-changing decisions all the time. And yet also being told that, "you're too old to feel like you're insecure, you're too old to feel like you don't know what you want to do, and it's a little too late to feel like this is a space for you to need to start over or start figuring out where you want to go in life." And for me, I felt all of those things at the same time and didn't have someone speaking life into me about the hope and love of Jesus, even though I would have called myself a believer had someone asked me while I was living my life away from the Lord.
So my mission and my heart is to be that voice and to be the person that God uses as a voice where if someone were to invite me to a church function or a church service, and that was the only time at 19 years old as a kid who was far away from God but would have said he was a Christian, if that one church visit would have given me the opportunity to receive a word from God just off of an invite, I would love to be the pastor at your church who shares that message of hope for that young adult who's navigating life and feels misunderstood, feels unseen, feels unloved and unknown, and an inconvenience to others. I would love to be the one to share the message of hope that Jesus loves them and that there's hope for a better life now and in the future. And I would love to be the voice that invites them to receive that hope and to see your church, this church, our church, as their new home.
