Medical Mission Team Member - TTU Health Sciences Center - Peru

I collaborated with an interdisciplinary team of physicians, nurse practitioners, nurses, pharmacists, dentists and various other healthcare professionals to deliver free medical care to underserved, low-income communities throughout Peru. My roles dealt with conducting patient intake and initial medical screenings, managing laboratory operations, prepping syringes/injections, calculating medication dosages alongside pharmacists, conducting home health visits, and participating in community outreach initiatives by assessing the safety and quality of their local drinking water. Furthermore, this mission trip served to improve healthcare access within the Peruvian communities, while simultaneously allowing me to further develop my clinical, cultural, and interprofessional collaboration skills within a resource limited setting.
