When our home was destroyed by fire in December 2008, my husband and I decided to perform the duties of general contractor for the re-build. My husband oversaw and participated in the actual construction, my responsibilities included:
- Developed and enforced a budget for the project
- Solicited, analyzed and awarded bids to subcontractors
- Coordinated and scheduled work timelines of specialized subcontractors
- Ordered and obtained needed materials throughout the building process
- Terminated subcontractor due to unsatisfactory work
