My name is Laekyn Clarkson, and I am a passionate and dedicated social studies educator working on a Master’s degree in History. I’ve spent the past two years teaching seventh grade, where I focus on fostering critical thinking, historical analysis, and a love for learning in my students. One of my favorite aspects of teaching is helping students connect past events to the present, making history relevant and engaging for them.
I’ve also had the privilege of guiding students through National History Day projects, teaching them to work with primary and secondary sources, cite evidence, and communicate their ideas effectively. I believe strongly in collaborative learning and strive to help my students grow into informed, thoughtful citizens.
Outside the classroom, I’ve traveled extensively in Europe, including visits to France, Germany, Austria, the Czech Republic, and Poland. These experiences have enriched my understanding of global history and cultures, which I bring into my teaching. In my free time, I enjoy mentoring students, working with colleagues to enhance curriculum design, and exploring creative approaches to education.
