Lance Buergin

I graduated from UMD in spring 2026 and am looking for a job in the pharmaceutical industry. I have always wanted to follow my dads footsteps and get a job in QC, but I would also be interested in a manufacturing position upstream or down stream. I had an internship with the NCI and I'm ready to use what I have learned with whoever hires me to my fullest potential.

NCI Werner Internship at National Cancer Institute (2022-08 – 2023-05)

• Identified and highlighted mitochondria in cancer cells from electron microscope images to train an A.I. system.
• Engaged in weekly meetings with team lead about next steps and progress.
• I transferred cancer cell samples onto metal slides for the electron microscope, inside of an aseptic glove box
• I learned ALCOA data integrity principle used heavily in pharmaceutical documentation and GMP compliance.
• Concluded internship with a demonstration of electron microscope imaging.

Personal Shopper at Sam's Club (2022-12 – 2024-01)

• Fulfilled online orders and dispensed them to customers on arrival.
• Led a small group in resolving customer order issues.
