Front-end Quality Control Pattern Checker
- Check patterns across all Simplicity brands for accuracy with designer's original intent and specs, consistency with construction of final muslin garments, and maintain quality and overall consistency with company standards.
- Check that all notion/trim information and sketches on the designer's croqui (tech pack) are consistent with the final muslin, and all finished garment measurements are stated on the pattern and are accurate.
- Work cross-functionally with designers, patternmakers and production to correct any discrepancies on croquis, patterns and muslin garments.
- Identify pattern and construction issues - such as - correct fit, balance, proportion and pattern markings and ensure master pattern size can fit on the width of the fabric and consider those issues post-grading.
- Ensure patterns are accurately labeled and edit pattern numbers when necessary in accordance to how the sample will be constructed.
- Refine patterns for production and execute pattern revisions using CAD Assyst.
- Prepare a piecelist/cutter's must for each style.
- Self-manage all workload based on production schedule and other priorities.
Technical Layout Coordinator at Design Group Americas, Sewing Patterns Division, New York, NY (2019-04 – 2025-10)
Member of the Front-end Quality Control team. Worked across multiple brands: Butterick, Know Me, McCall's, New Look, Simplicity, Vogue. Product categories included womenswear, menswear, children's wear (all ages), and crafts such as costumes, plush toys, doll clothes, home accessories, and bags.
- Check that all company production patterns match the muslin garment construction, notions and trim information and technical sketches on the designer's croqui (tech pack), check all finished garment measurements are accurate and stated on the pattern.
- Work with fashion/craft designers, pattern checker, head of patternmaking to correct any discrepancies on croquis, patterns and muslin garments/samples.
- Make pattern corrections as needed on the CAD Assyst system.
- Actively attend garment construction meetings with pattern checker – taking notes and correcting information on the croqui.
- Cover for pattern checker occasionally to check first patterns and make corrections during construction meetings.
- Prepare a piece list (cutter's must) for each style and write an X file, which contains fabrics, notions and finished garment measurements, which is passed on to the Writing, Grading and Measuring departments.
- Compose templates in Adobe Indesign for back of sewing pattern envelopes using information from X file.
- Create catalog page templates in English and French.
- Work with French translator to prepare copy on envelopes in multi-language translation (French and Spanish).
- Work with the Merchandising department to translate all style information for e-commerce.
- Work closely with Quality Control and the Art Department to make envelope corrections and/or correct any issues as needed.

Responsible for completion of the master production pattern for various size ranges and design silhouettes for womenswear, menswear, childrenswear, and craft.
- Create patterns from design sketch on computer using CAD software, Assyst (via manipulation of staple or adjustment of existing pattern) to achieve desired style and correct fit.
- Ensure that each pattern is developed within the set standards of size, construction methods and pattern making quality standards.
- Cut and sew first sample for designer's approval and implement any and all changes or corrections to the pattern.
