As a Spatial Analyst, my primary objective is to be a steward of data that is spatial and informationally accurate and can be used to provide a multitude of resources and functionality for all users. I enjoy explaining my profession to non-users and bring them into the spatial community, as it has been a wealth of knowledge and experiences for me.
GIS Specialist at Dewberry Engineering (2024-10 – Present)
Working on the DTS Team, I was certified with FEMA to bee Disaster Response. Team deployed for 90 days + for Dewberry's DTS team that was on call 24/7 in whatever disaster they are assigned to across the US. On that team we were responsible or build the GIS Applications available to field crews for data collection for that particular disaster. Otherwise, I worked within the same team on various NOAA, USGS, and local and state agencies on projects.
GIS Analyst-Contractor at Williams Oil & Gas (2024-03 – 2024-10)
Working with FME, ArcPro and Maximo to bring database data together and identifying as built data for Oil & Gas assets across the US. I was brought on for this contract role to assist the GIS Manager in reconciling several different databases within the company into GIS. I monitor these databases update status' with AGOL Dashboards.
These are simple total and status dashboards to keep up with the progress of the asset reconciliation. This is a very manual process as we are verifying all fields of the data.
GIS Deployment Specialist at Motorola Solutions (2021-03 – 2024-03)
I began working in Support for Flex customers across the United States troubleshoot issues with validation data entered into the Flex system for address verification. Upon discovering that there were better procedures for the agencies, I moved to the GIS deployment team. Working in employment I received data from agencies in multiple data types that had to be worked into usable data for Flex and Premier One system.
Using SQL Server, FME, Azure, and ESRI Enterprise, Portal and AGOL to bring datasets together to give the agencies the best address validation data we could get pushed into the system and work with and train the GIS User to maintain and feed the system when updates occurred. Also using the ArcPy library to handle issues within the data as well as to verify the topology of the data for use within the software. Dealing with databases and different datasets from all over the country, really lead me to wish I had this position after NG911 compliance was in place, as every dataset was different and everyone wanted their data to do something different, although MSI did not participate in their wants, only the function of their software.
GIS Specialist at American Electric Power (2015-06 – 2020-12)
Working with the dataset entered by Electric Office Technicians, I would extract data with FME, prep that data for entry into ESRI Enterprise so that it could be used for Web Application building and for use within other programs and for other agencies. This data covered 11 states across the US. Using simple SQL/ArcPy coding to manipulate the data as needed by the client.
GIS Specialist/Project Manager at Mendrop/Wages, LLC (2003-09 – 2014-05)
Working with Civil Engineers across the State, my role was to work with Cities, counties and other state and federal representatives on various project throughout the state with the Managing Engineer for the State Development Authority and City and County officials on grant applications, bidding construction projects, executing all documentation for state, federal and privately funded projects. My survey side of my position led to me getting my GIS Certification in 2009 from Delta State University. Beginning in Construction Management of over 2 billion dollars in construction for the Managing Engineer for the State of Mississippi, I learned and expanded my training to enter the Geospatial Trade.
Since then, I have been able to work on datasets in every state of the United States, dealing with Infrastructure, Data Collection and Database creation in both AutoCAD and ArcGIS, using ArcPro since its introduction. These opportunities have prepared me to be multi-faceted in Spatial systems and setup. Working with many talented co-workers along the way has given me the opportunity to grow my skills in GIS administration and intermediate SQL-Python coding for GIS, along with modeling opportunities to bring multiple datasets together for the betterment of the data and function of the data.
