I think the word eclectic would be apt to describe my skill set, yet the different careers used the same skills, so it worked well. Client services, event planning, design, unusual ways to surprise and entertain, handling multiple sets of "it's an emergency," admin proficiency. These skills and more made me a great film line producer, festival producer, event planner, coordinator, and designer.
I just moved to Vancouver. I want to be out in the world that comes here, utilize what I have, learn, and have fun.
Petals and Twist was my 2nd career and a 17-year experiment, where in I learned how to envision and then build, launch, and run my own planning and design business— cultivating clients and a reputation of excellence.
I went to a Business School (AKA the film business) boot camp, which taught me how to do business in the major markets of commercial film enterprises.
I knew there were 1000 people in line behind me, just waiting to take my place. with alacrity, I became excellent and proficient in a wide variety of areas. Searching, learning, and providing answers to tough questions while pillowing the lives of the VIPs was not for the faint of heart. Mine was an eclectic and exacting profession, and it has helped and informed me countless times throughout my professional and personal life.
I moved to back to the PNW 2 months ago. I am very eager to get going. I have a lot of different skill sets that are very useful when you are in a business where anything can happen at any time.
Having a job that uses what I know invites me to be part of my new community, and an opportunity to learn new things is the definition of what I want professionally.
