Patient Engagement Coach & Training Program Owner - RemoniHealth - White Plains, NY (Remote)
(2023-06)
RemoniHealth is the first remote patient monitoring platform in the ophthalmic space, working with ophthalmology and optometry practices to deliver digital health monitoring between office visits. Joined as the third patient coach hire; role has expanded significantly as the company scaled.
- Serve as primary point of contact for a panel of patients navigating remote vision monitoring, managing the full outreach lifecycle from enrollment through monthly results review
- Conduct verbal consent reviews with all new patients in accordance with HIPAA-compliant protocols, covering program scope, Medicare eligibility, voluntary participation, and clinical guardrails
- Identify and triage clinical concerns using structured symptom-based questioning; escalate appropriately to the clinical team while maintaining patient confidence and relationship continuity
- Execute inconclusive test follow-up protocols via phone-only communication, distinguishing user error from potential clinical findings and coordinating with the clinical team on next steps
- Support patients through real-time test walkthroughs on personal devices, adapting communication style and technical guidance for a predominantly 60–80 year old population
- Trial a full-ownership call model in which each coach handles all call types for their assigned patient panel, increasing continuity of care and reducing handoff friction
- Take ownership of a previously informal training process shared across multiple team members, formalizing it into a structured, repeatable program with clear sequencing and accountability
- Overhaul the Patient Coach Manual section by section — rebuilding, updating, and expanding a 36-page living reference document covering all PEC responsibilities, scripts, protocols, tools, and clinical reference content
- Write, record, and produce instructional training videos hosted in Microsoft Stream with closed captions, enabling async access for a distributed team
- Establish a verbal walkthrough-to-script production workflow: work through content verbally, convert to shooting script, then record — building a growing library of searchable, captioned reference videos
- Design training materials to be as self-serve as possible so new hires can onboard without requiring a trainer on every call — intentional infrastructure, not convenience
- Own the RemoniHealth SharePoint Team Hub — built the site from scratch and serve as primary content architect, editor, and maintainer
- Identify a critical institutional knowledge gap: protocol changes communicated verbally in meetings were never documented, creating a growing delta between what senior staff knew and what new hires could access
- Drive the initiative to make SharePoint the single source of truth, reconciling the Patient Coach Manual, FAQ library, training videos, and SOPs into a unified, searchable knowledge base
- Apply a consistent documentation standard: any content added to SharePoint must be understandable by a brand-new hire with no prior context
- Document and standardize workflows that previously existed only in institutional memory, converting verbal processes into written SOPs used across the team
- Revise and maintain the product requirements document for an AI Voice Agent platform, updating clinical guardrail logic, call priority frameworks, escalation rules, and patient persona context to ensure continuity between development teams
- Build and maintain a cross-tab patient testing tracker in Excel to monitor patient compliance across practices, doctors, and quarters
- Be recognized by team members across all levels as the go-to resource for workflow questions, systems troubleshooting, and process clarity
- Support new hire mentorship as part of a structured onboarding program with five phased sign-off gates that build competency incrementally before full independence
