Maddy Irwin

Hi there, my name is Maddy and I have lived in the Grand Rapids area my entire life. I am currently the AGM at Max’s tiki a restaurant downtown, so have a lot of experience managing a building full of staff and some very special art as well. I have a real respect for beautiful spaces and what it takes to upkeep them.

Looking to make some connections in my area, that may also help my finances some. I have a soft spot for cats, I found my cat in the alley out back at Max’s a few years ago, lured him out from under the dumpster with some left over food, he was only a few weeks old and it was over from there, the sweetest boy. Excited to find someone who feels I am the right match for their space or pet.

My professional experience mainly lies in the service industry. I was basically born into restaurants, my parents met working at Great Lakes shipping co, which they eventually bought and took over before I was born. My baseline experience for everything was built there, I have mastered hosting, cocktailing, and serving first.

Moved onto other restaurants and tackled bartending and started to dip my toe into management. 2 years later I am the Assistant General Manager of one of the best spots in the city. That all translates to so many different aspects of life, I have no doubts I can mange any household or pet with respect, care, cleanliness and kindness. I was a special olympics swim coach, lifeguard, taught private lessons and babysat for many years as well.

My education background is as follows

Graduated from Rockford High School in 2015. Did a year of college at GVSU, before realizing that wasn’t the path for me, moved home and started Cosmetology school at Aveda In GR shortly after, graduated with a Cosmetology license, then decided to go back for my Estiology license which I also got. Did hair and skincare at a salon awhile out of school and went back to restaurants part time before covid.

Back to service full time after the pandemic, and after starting at Max’s 6 years ago as a server I am now second in command. I am a loyal and dedicated employee looking forward to helping however I can.
