Working in a research lab on campus analyzing Trisomy in mouse models. I am currently conducting a research project on femur innervation in Down Syndrome (DS) mouse models. I hypothesize that there is decreased innervation and sensory neuron function in the femurs of trisomic mice, which may contribute to skeletal abnormalities associated with DS.

Aoki, studying the effect the N terminus (Nt) domain of PGL-1 has on P granule assembly and function in C. Elegans. PGL-1, an RNA binding protein, is a major component in formation and development of P granules in the germline. P granules are the germ granules in C. Elegans, they play an important role in RNA metabolism and development. Little is known regarding the independent roles each PGL-1 domain plays in P granule assembly My project helped better understand the function and necessity of the Nt domain in P granule assembly.
