Mahmoud Soliman, DVM, Ph.D.

My research program seeks to define the molecular mechanisms that govern virus-host interactions, tissue tropism, immune evasion, and viral pathogenesis. By integrating molecular virology, CRISPR-based functional genomics, stem cell-derived organoid models, reverse genetics, quantitative imaging, and systems biology, I aim to identify conserved host pathways exploited by emerging viral pathogens. A central goal of my laboratory is to translate mechanistic discoveries into host-directed antiviral strategies while advancing fundamental understanding of infectious disease biology.

My long-term vision is to establish an interdisciplinary research program bridging virology, cell biology, immunology, and genomics to address fundamental questions in host-pathogen interactions.
