I am 27 year old Hispanic female with a strong passion for eye care. I have hands-on experience working in retail optometry settings, alongside with private retina specialists, and provided rehabilitation services to individuals who are blind or have low vision. My goal is to provide meaningful support to both patients and professionals in the eye care community.
I have a strong foundation in the eye care field, supported by hands-on experience in both clinical and rehabilitative settings, I worked as an Optical Optician at Fox Valley Vision Works, where I provided patient support in eyewear selection, lens education, and insurance processing. Later, as an Ophthalmic Technician at Retina Consultants Ltd., I performed diagnostic eye tests, assisted in procedures like intravitreal injections, and supported ophthalmologists in managing patient care. My internships at the Hines VA Blind Rehabilitation Center expanded my skills in vision rehabilitation therapy and low vision rehabilitation, helping veterans with visual impairments regain independence.
Additionally, I’ve completed extensive shadowing experiences with optometrists and retina specialists, and contributed to programs for individuals with visual impairments, including children and veterans.
I hold a Bachelor of Science in Biology and a Bachelor of Arts in Spanish from Benedictine University, where I also participated in a summer study abroad program at Nebrija University in Madrid to enhance my Spanish proficiency and prepare for ACTFL certification. I have completed a Master’s Degree in Low Vision Rehabilitation and have earned a Certification in Vision Rehabilitation Therapy (VRT) from Salus University. My academic journey has provided a strong foundation in both science and communication, equipping me to support individuals with visual impairments through specialized rehabilitation and patient-centered care.
