Mark Nevius

Experienced and dedicated chaplain with over 25 years of spiritual care leadership across military and healthcare settings. Currently serving as Staff Chaplain at UC West Chester Hospital, where I provide direct spiritual and emotional care to patients, families, and staff across all faith backgrounds. I coordinate daily Catholic ministry by partnering with local parishes and lead a diverse team of over 40 volunteers in delivering consistent, compassionate spiritual support.

I collaborate daily with interdisciplinary teams, offer Code Lavender support during times of crisis, and help maintain the interfaith space and chapel office to ensure accessible, welcoming ministry environments. My prior service includes 21 years as an active-duty U.S. Air Force chaplain, where I led multiple chapel teams—including the Air Force's largest wing chapel staff—managing staff and budgets, as well as providing religious support for more than 50,000 Airmen and civilians.

I advised commanders on matters of faith, ethics, and morale, and led religious operations through one remote tour and four overseas deployments. These experiences honed my ability to lead under pressure, work with diverse populations, and build spiritually healthy, resilient communities. After retiring from the military, I expanded my clinical and pastoral skills through a CPE residency at the VA Hospital in San Antonio, preparing me to offer deeper, more nuanced care in the hospital setting.

Looking towards a supervisory role, I am passionate about mentoring both staff and volunteers, creating emotionally supportive workplaces, and promoting holistic well-being within healthcare systems. I seek to bring my years of experience in chaplaincy, leadership, and team development to the Director of Spiritual Care role at West Chester Hospital—helping to grow a robust, compassionate spiritual care program that meets the diverse needs of all those we serve.
