Mason Doan

I am a second-year undergraduate at the University of Maryland, College Park interested in studying Information Systems. I have experience in IT, programming, computer networking, and Amazon Web Services (AWS). I also have experience in leadership in a variety of roles, from leading charity efforts to CEO of an online business.

I was the Founder and CEO of Flow MC Network in Ellicott City, Maryland, from December 2020 to August 2022. I established an online game server business that catered to a global user base. I collaborated with IT professionals to enhance the gaming experience, hired and managed a team for server tasks, and worked with developers to improve gameplay by addressing exploits and glitches. I optimized server performance, managed networking and latency, such as implementing load balancing, software optimization, caching, and monitoring through HetrixTools and Sematext. In addition to leading significant projects, I oversaw daily operations, server transfers, staff recruitment, and ran events to ensure the success of the gaming network.

I also worked as a Cloud Engineer Intern at Data Precision Systems LLC in Vienna, VA from June 2022 to September 2022. During my time there, I faced real-world IT challenges by developing solutions that addressed security concerns and networking needs using AWS. I created IAM roles, users, and groups, implementing multi-factor authentication (MFA) for AWS accounts and resources. Additionally, I designed VPCs, NACLs, IGWs, subnets, route tables, Security Groups, AZs, EC2 instances, and EBS storage. I managed data storage using S3 buckets and established backup strategies with snapshots. I was also involved in applying agile methodology and using JIRA as a ticketing system.

After my internship, I studied and earned my AWS Certified Cloud Practitioner certificate.

I attend University of Maryland, College Park, hoping to study Information Systems in the Business School.
