Matheus Mesquita Viana joins Pennsylvania State University pursuing a bachelor's degree in Computational Data Science after graduating from Broward College with an Associate of Arts degree, 3.8 GPA, Highest Honors, Phi Theta Kappa, and Student Government Association President. In his role in the SGA, he brought back the student government activities that had been put on hold during the height of the pandemic and rekindled the student-led activities by creating a movie club and a book club. Led the creation of the “for students-by-students” club to increase the amount of student-driven extracurricular activities on campus and hosted student-led seminars on various topics.
Organized volunteer community service with Sistema Divina Providencia and, organized the Black History Month celebration for February 2022. Most recently he worked with and hosted the Luxemburg consulate-run program Colonia.lu on two separate occasions in multiple cities including Belo Horizonte MG in conjunction with Broward College and in Cabo Frio RJ in conjunction with the Ministry of Culture José de Dome to promote art history and the joint stories between Brazil and Luxemburg with the project Colonia Luxemburgo. He is particularly passionate about the idea of training through a consistent and targeted effort for self-improvement and learning, that he brings to every task and every challenge.
