Engineering with purpose is my goal. Growing up as Cuban-American in the large city of Miami, Florida, has taught me to respect the world around me and to take nothing for granted. Over the past 2 years, I have had the luxury to work under various professors in research for machine learning applications in civil engineering and material science.
This opportunity has enabled me to take the skills I have learned from these professors and create an impact on the world around me. Whether that impact might be creating an economically feasible distributed smartphone pavement monitoring network or a Graph Convolutional Network for detecting anomalies in material microstructures. Either way, I am proud of the work I have contributed and look forward to taking my knowledge into the next stage of my life in hopes that I may leave each environment in a better place than when I arrived.
