Dr. Megan Thorvilson earned her medical degree from the University of North Dakota in 2013 before completing her residency in Pediatric and Adolescent Medicine at Mayo Clinic in Rochester, Minnesota. She then pursued fellowship training in Pediatric Hospice and Palliative Medicine at the Children's Hospital of Philadelphia, further honing her expertise in complex pediatric care.
Following her training, Dr. Thorvilson joined the faculty at Mayo Clinic, where she serves as a pediatric palliative care provider and the Associate Chair for Education in the Department of Pediatrics. Committed to advancing medical education, she is currently pursuing a Master of Health Professions Education (MHPE) at the University of Illinois Chicago.
Dr. Thorvilson is also an active faculty member for VitalTalk, a nonprofit organization dedicated to teaching serious illness communication skills to healthcare professionals. Her work focuses on enhancing patient-centered care through effective communication, mentorship, and curriculum development in pediatric palliative medicine.
