PhD in Geology, sedimentology

I possess a wide range of skills, developed through my activities as a Lecturer at the University of the Applied Sciences, Iran (2006-2011), University of Witwatersrand, South Africa (2013-2014) and Rhodes University, South Africa (2019-2020) and during my work placement as a Geologist in the oil and coal industries where I worked for National Iranian Oil/ Steel companies (2004-2011). I taught broad range of courses including, introduction to Earth sciences, Physical geology, Field geology, Sedimentology and Stratigraphy, Historical geology and Hydrogeology.

I pursued my career as a postdoctoral fellow and worked on different projects in different institutes and countries including Iran (University of Ferdowsi Mashhad- one year), South Africa (University of Pretoria- several months) and two years at the Rhodes University. I have published several peer-reviewed articles in high impact journals during my doctoral study and postdoctoral fellowship.

I earned my PhD on carbonate sedimentology and geochemistry of sedimentary rocks in February 2017 from the Ludwig Maximilian University of Munich in Germany. My main research interests lie in the studying sedimentary rocks (e.g., carbonates, iron formation and chert), facies analyses and application of various geochemical tools on chemical sedimentary rocks in order to understand their primary composition and diagenetic processes in order to reconstruct their depositional environments and unravel paleo-environmental conditions, paleoclimate, and their potential for hosting minerals and hydrocarbon.
