Mengesha Tesfaw obtained his PhD in Water Resources and Environmental Engineering (Hydraulic Engineering) from the Bahir Dar Institute of Technology, Ethiopia. He also holds an MSc degree in Irrigation and Drainage Engineering from the Hawassa Institute of Technology, which he completed in 2019. His academic qualifications and professional experience primarily focus on hydrological studies, climate change research, and groundwater management.
In addition to this, he is skilled in project proposal and grant writing related to groundwater management, adaptation strategies for climate change, and various software packages, including Civil 3D, GeoStudio, MODFLOW, Aquifer test analysis, GIS, RS, GEE, ML, and recharge estimation. Additionally, he also has a skill in computer programming (Python and R) for data analysis. He has also contributed to research and teaching, having published papers on groundwater and climate change.
Outside of his academic pursuits, Mr. Mengesha is actively involved in searching for sustainable groundwater management and climate change action projects, as well as conducting community-based research aimed at improving water resource management.
