I used to believe Business Management was the correct career path for me, and while I did enjoy my time studying for a future in HR, I felt something was missing. It wasn't until I took one small elective class where I learned HTML that I discovered my interest in the tech industry.
I was always under the impression I was not capable of pursuing a career in tech because I was too behind to catch up, and so it wasn't until during my school break in this pandemic that my sister introduced me to Merit America and encouraged me to apply. Thanks to her belief in me, I had the confidence to decide to officially change my career path to become a Software Engineer.
Although I still faced some doubts because I was learning something entirely foreign compared to accounting and finance, I was determined to complete this program and was fortunate to accomplish my goal. I am continuously gaining more knowledge in Java, JavaScript, SQL, Spring Boot, and more, and it makes me excited to see what the future holds for me.
I am where I am all because I am a headstrong, young woman who wants to have an impact on the world one day that has such a great family that supports me. I look to the future in hopes of creating a better tomorrow for my nieces and nephews. Passionate about gender equality, I hope to inspire future generations to break boundaries to guarantee a more accepting world for all.
I have worked in various industries, primarily leaning toward customer service and education. Through these different roles, I have learned that I quickly adapt to new environments and that my real passion is technology.
I am currently enrolled to complete my associate's degree at Lone Star College by the end of 2023 and completed the Java Development program with Merit America in November of last year.
