I hold bachelor’s degrees in biology and psychology, and a minor in chemistry. I began my laboratory career analyzing environmental samples in an inorganic chemistry laboratory. Then I moved to an organic chemistry laboratory analyzing environmental samples from various sources including drinking water, ground water, wastewater, and soil.
My most recent laboratory experience was in research in assay development. Not only did I complete bench work in these roles, but I also had the opportunity to oversee the work of interns and other team members in some roles.
Beyond the laboratory, I have experience in construction and truck driving. I love to work with my hands. I gained a love of woodworking in my high school vocational education courses and have continued with carpentry work personally my entire life. Further, I have completed many carpentry home improvement projects while self-employed. You will find that I am hard-working, a self-starter, and very willing to learn.
Experienced laboratory professional with skills in ELISA, DNA/RNA extraction, cDNA synthesis, qPCR, HPLC, IC, PCR, agarose and polyacrylamide gel electrophoresis, Western Blot, 96-well-plate-based colorimetric and fluorescence assays, manual colorimetric assays, distillations, organic extractions, protein purification, antibody extraction, aseptic technique, cell culture, plasmid purification, Sanger sequencing, and bacterial transformation. Furthermore, I have several years of carpentry experience where I renovated existing dwellings, framed new buildings, and performed various tasks on high-rise steel construction buildings.
