Experienced investment professional with a demonstrated history of working in venture capital and private equity.
I worked in the Office of Investment and Innovation of the United States Small Business Administration (SBA) from October 1999 through March 2007. The Office of Investment and Innovation manages the SBA’s Small Business Investment Company (SBIC) Program, a federal government-sponsored and administered venture capital/private equity fund-of-funds.
While at SBA, I was an Investment Officer, Operations Analyst, and Program Development Officer. During my tenure, I successfully licensed 35 venture capital/private equity funds with an aggregate capitalization exceeding $1.5 billion for SBA credit commitments of up to $4.5 billion, oversaw a portfolio of over 50 venture capital/private equity funds, and successfully recruited 2 private equity firms to join the SBIC Program.
Upon leaving SBA, I worked as an independent consultant focusing on financial analysis, capital raising, and deal sourcing specifically targeted to lower middle market private equity firms.
From 2013 to 2019, I worked for Spanos Barber Jesse & Co., an SBIC headquartered in the San Francisco Bay Area, supporting the firm’s business development initiatives and compliance operations from Chicago, Illinois.
From 1996 to 2006, I served as an Infantry officer in the United States Army and Army Reserves, obtaining the rank of Captain. Through my military experience, I have held numerous leadership and management positions in various command and operational units.
I have obtained Security Clearances from the Department of Defense (“Top Secret”), United States Small Business Administration (SBA), and the Federal Deposit Insurance Corporation (FDIC).
