Attend SSA disability hearings for the SSA, OHO, using specialized recording equipment and software. Maintain organized and secure records of recorded content, ensuring confidentiality and data security. - If IT issues arise during set up, notify the appropriate contact at OHO immediately
- Open the hearing room and startup Government-furnished hearing recording equipment
- Complete a test recording to ensure the recording equipment is functioning correctly
- Initiate contact with the Administrative Law Judge (ALJ) via Skype at least 15 minutes prior to the start of first hearing
- Annotate the digital recording in English throughout the hearing to provide an index of events, making a digital annotation every time there is a change of speaker
- Operate recording software (DRAP) equipment and computer programs such as MS TEAMS, MS WORD, Adobe Acrobat, Outlook and Skype
- Perform basic activities on computer, including saving files
- Operate telephone and video equipment
- Properly annotate on the VHR Worksheet what exhibits were admitted into evidence at the hearing by the ALJ and document objections
- Refrain from visible or audible reaction to any actions or statement by claimants, representatives, Vocational Expert (VE), Medical Expert (ME) or the ALJ
- Submit close-out documents at the end of the day of scheduled hearings
- Demonstrate excellent listening skills and ability to capture and summarize spoken content in real-time
- Maintain strong command of grammar, punctuation, and language conventions
- Work effectively under pressure and meet tight deadlines
