I have been a veterinary technician in the ER setting for 8 years and I am looking to transition into a more stable career path and have decided on surgical technology.
Veterinary technician. As a vet tech in an ER setting I would deal with case management, execution of diagnostic orders or treatment plans, I would also setup and break down the operating room to fit specific doctors needs, along with setting up I helped with patient positioning and scrubbing the patients for surgery. Occasionally I would scrub in and assist the doctor with retraction, hemostasis, or the passing of instrumentation.
I have an associates in arts degree and I am working on completing a surgical technology program and should have it finished before the end of October 2026
