I was a vet assistant for 5 years, worked in GP, emergency and specialty settings. I really enjoyed performing dental cleanings on animals. The attention to detail you need to focus on making sure you are cleaning every aspect of the teeth.

I enjoy making lists of tasks that need to be done and executing them, along with solving problems and creating ways for a business to grow. I am a very detailed oriented person and I want to make a positive difference in what I do in life. My goal in veterinary medicine is to be apart of management as a shift lead or coordinator.

I would like to help others grow and give them the leadership they would be proud of. I believe the struggles I've faced in workplaces has shown me the type of leader I want to be so I can make other people's experiences better.

• Administering medications via orally, topically, rectally, through injections, ect. as directed by the veterinarian. As well as filling prescriptions.
• Leading department in daily schedule of which patients need to be seen first due to patient symptoms
• Monitoring patient vital signs. This involves taking temperatures, heart rates, and respiratory rates, CRT/MM, hydration status, pain level, and observing for any changes in the animal's condition.
• Acquiring thorough history, lists of current medications that patient is on, along with any previous medical history pertaining to patient, this includes calling other clinics for records.
• Maintaining medical records accurately documenting patient information, treatments, and test results is crucial.
• Preparing estimations for diagnostic/ hospitalization procedures. Taking payment from clients via credit card, text to pay link.
• Performing diagnostic procedures via blood work, blood smear, manual platelet count, PCV/TS, radiographs, blood pressure via doppler.
• Responding to emergency medical needs within the hospital. Such as CPR, emergency medication dosages, obtaining EKG as well as any other necessary tasks.
• Admitting patients to hospital, placing IV catheter and setting patient profile in "Woofware" system for routine husbandry care.
• Discharging patients from hospital and informing clients thoroughly of discharge instructions.
• Assisting RVT or DVM in ultrasound diagnostic and placing urinary catheters. Ability to express bladder manually.
• Maintaining sanitization protocols throughout the hospital to limit spread of bacteria.
• Worked within Specialized Internal Medicine department as well as assisting Neurology and Physical Therapy departments.

• Assisting with examinations and treatments. This includes restraining animals, preparing equipment, and providing support to the veterinarian during procedures.
• Performing laboratory tests by assisting with collecting blood samples, running urinalysis, and other basic lab tests. Along with performing X-Rays, sending samples to third party labs.
• Assisting with surgical procedures. This can involve preparing the surgical suite, assisting with anesthesia, and monitoring the animal during surgery and recovery.
