I am passionate about creating a friendly and welcoming classroom environment for students because that is the foundation on which a teacher can help their students grow.

I have one year of teaching experience through a student-teaching internship and substitute teaching in my district. Throughout my work experience, I have learned classroom management skills for all grade levels (K-12), and I try to create a welcoming environment for students however I can.

Student Teaching Internship (January-May 2020)

Fossil Ridge High School, Fort Collins, CO.

• Assumed full responsibilities of teaching U.S. Literature and Composition to juniors. 
• Prepared and implemented lessons aligned with Colorado state standards. 
• Collaborated with mentor teacher as well as other teachers and student teachers daily.
• Communicated with parents through e-mails and occasional phone calls to discuss student progress. 
• Award the Dr. Laurie F. Michaels Scholarship in Education for leadership ability and commitment to social justice. 

Poudre School District, Fort Collins, CO.

• Manage the classroom effectively and follow lesson plans provided by the teacher. 
• Collaborating with other teachers or substitutes to fulfill student needs. 
• Adapt teaching methods between classes, individual students, grade levels, and schools. 
• Flexible, able to jump from one classroom to another, wherever needed. 

I graduated from Colorado State University with a major in English Literature and a minor in Secondary Education. Through my degree, I learned how to plan student-centered lessons that give students information relevant to them. I also learned communication and collaboration skills by working with other teachers and communicating with parents about their child's performance in the class.
