Olivia Cosgray

I have had the privilege of working in the field of Public Health for over 10 years since graduating with my degree in 2014 from Ball State University. While navigating the realm of Public Health, I have had experiences in case management, program management, project coordination, community health promotion and health education in schools and within the community. My background has had a main focus on Reproductive Health and within the last few years I have gained more experience in Domestic Violence Prevention Education.

I believe that prevention is the best method of advancing societies and giving communities autonomy and I strive to help support that vision in my professional and personal life.

Adult Program Coordinator at Domestic Violence Prevention Network (06/23 - Present)

• ​Assist with program research, development, and training around Domestic Violence and Intimate Partner Violence for Adult and University communities
• Coordinate, plan and execute monthly meetings for DV advocates in the community for continued education, networking, and self care
• Manage communication for any training requests from website
• Coordinate an annual Commemoration event during Domestic Violence Awareness Month
• Assist in planning and executing different DV/IPV summits that are presented within the community
• Form new partnerships and foster existing partnerships with community organizations that support DV/IPV survivors
• Research public health data to develop trainings or update existing trainings
• Interim manager of Project HEAL, which is a creative healing workshop directed towards working with DV survivors
• Create and implement creative healing workshops for PROJECT HEAL
• Assist in planning and executing an annual art showcase

Adolescent Health Educator at LifeSmart Youth (07/17 - 06/23)

• Deliver evidence-based reproductive health and healthy relationship curriculum to students grades 4th – 8th within 9 Indiana counties
• Deliver evidence-based curriculum around life skill development to adolescents between the ages of 15-24 years old
• Deliver anti-bullying and healthy relationship programming to various summer camps ages PreK-9th within Marion County
• Program and curriculum development, evaluation, and training of new staff members
• Assist with LSY's Youth Network in coordinating monthly meetings and assisting in project ideas

Patient Navigator at Little Red Door Cancer Agency (01/17 - 06/17)

• Conduct intakes for new clients via the phone or in person
• Handle a caseload of 100+ clients with various types of cancer
• Assess the needs of clients and help overcome any barriers to care
• In charge of any Spanish speaking calls, inquiries, or clients
• Assist in the Door to Wellness program which provides wellness classes such as yoga and nutrition classes to clients and caregivers

Care Coordinator at The Damien Center (06/16 - 01/17)

• Provide Care Coordination to those in the Indianapolis area that have been diagnosed with HIV
• Conduct monthly check ins with established clients and intake interviews with new clients
• Handle a caseload of Spanish and English speaking clients
• Help clients navigate health insurance, housing, employment options and other community resources
• Provide health education to clients around sexual health practices

Health Sector Volunteer with The Peace Corps Dominican Republic (08/14 - 04/16)

• Conduct home interviews and assessments to determine community health needs
• Implement health education in four communities: Barrio David, El Puente, Guayacanes, and Boca de Mao
• Taught sexual health education to a community youth group that I initiated and formed called Escojo Mi Vida
• Taught topic overs sexual health, communication, alcohol and drugs, and discrimination to 6th, 7th and 8th graders
• Taught family health education to a community women’s group that I initiated and formed called Hogares Saludables
• Acted as a health resource within the community
