Program Manager - Localization Platform August 2011 - June 2013
Assessed Amazon’s localization processes and created a plan to support localization teams and country launches at
Amazon through a decentralized platform. The platform team worked with tax, legal, and finance to identify localization headcount and service costs.
● Created and managed a vendor pool of 20+ vendors.
● Worked with finance to model the projected growth of localization headcount and costs based on the speed of Amazon’s launches and the hiring rate for localization roles over the previous 12 months.
Program Manager, Kindle Special Conversion June 2010 - August 2011
Managed Amazon’s dictionary development for Kindle. Programmatically rebuilt a dictionary with umlauts for
Amazon’s release in Germany.
● Delivered 7 dictionaries at half the projected cost and time. Added umlauts programmatically to the German dictionary so that German users could use alternate spellings on a Kindle device that lacked an umlaut key.
● Sped development processes for e-books from 75 to 28 days and lowered costs by 40% per e-book developed.
Shoreline Community College Tenured Professor of English
Taught 4500 hours and 1500+ students. Developed two learning communities. The goal of each course was to deeply study a subject and allow students to learn through participation with a community of others studying a topic through two or more disciplines simultaneously.
